Chelodina steindachneri (Siebenrock, 1914) Steindachner's Turtle, Dinner Plate Turtle Chelodina steindachneri is found in Western Australia from the Erwin river north of Perth up to the De Gray River. Chelodina steindachneri prefers the permanent sections of the Murchison,-Wooramel,- Gascoyne,- Ashburton and Foresque River, but is also found inland where the water can be seasonal or occasional.Chelodina steindachenri is a relative small turtles with Carapax length between 15 and 19 cm (6 to 8 inch). The plastron is straw yellow with white seams and the brownish and almost round shape of the Carapax has given the turtle its common name. | |
